Women Self Defense

women self defenseThe statistics are chilling.  An act of violence occurs every fifteen seconds in this country.  Six million American women are beaten each year, and four-thousand are killed by their husbands or boyfriends. If you are a woman concerned about the threat of physical assault, whether by a stranger or by someone you know, it might be wise to consider some form of instruction in women self defense. Women self defense training will prepare you to respond appropriately should the worst happen, and will improve your confidence and emotional well-being even if (as we hope) you never need to use what you’ve been taught in women self defense.

Women Self-Defense Gives You an Advantage in Confrontations

women self defenseIn a physical confrontation between a woman and a man, the woman is almost always at a disadvantage, because women tend to be smaller than men, less powerful, and have considerably less upper body strength. So an effective women self-defense training course must take those factors into account.

The first thing to look for in a good women self defense program is comprehensive instruction in risk awareness, risk reduction, and other defensive concepts. Ninety-percent of crime is opportunistic.  This means that you can reduce by ninety-percent your risk of being a crime victim by simply not providing criminals the opportunity to target you. Therefore, a woman’s self defense begins long before a confrontation ensues.  Women self defense classes teaches you to be aware of your surroundings, recognize danger signs, and how not to put yourself at risk in the first place. A good women self-defense class can empower you with the knowledge of what to look for in any situation, and how to respond.
