Judo

judo Judo is a unique discipline that means different things to many people.  To some, it’s a competition between fighters.  To others, it’s a means to discipline one’s body and mind.  Others engage in Judo just for the sheer fun of it.  Regardless of the reason for your interest in Judo, ACE Jiu-Jitsu’s skilled Judo instructors will help you achieve your goals and enjoy every minute of it.

Judo Focuses on Ground & Grappling Techniques

Judo, like its ancestor Jiu-Jitsu, focuses on ground combat and grappling techniques.  However, Judo also teaches you strong defensive stances even while standing up.  It is, however, probably most famous for its throws.  Judokas (individuals that study and practice Judo) are taught a variety of methods to throw and disable opponents.  Some focus on moving the enemy further away from the fighter, while others are intended to cause a hard impact between an assailant and the floor or even a wall.  Judo teaches Judokas some of the most effective methods for self-defense and, with the professional trainers at ACE, allows them to have a great time doing it.

Judo training at ACE also benefits Judokas mentally.  You are taught to remain alert even when a given situation may not seem threatening.  Participants are also taught to avoid confrontation and only result to violence when no other solution is present.  Additionally, Judokas are able to develop other mental attributes, including self-confidence, discipline, patience and many others.  Many of these qualities are perfect attributes for success in today’s society.  Those who study Judo are typically far better equipped to deal with life’s toughest challenges and rise above the rest.  And the professional instructors at ACE are ready and willing to teach all Judo class participants each of these skills.

Judo Teaches Acceptance

One other important lesson taught by Judo: acceptance.  Although Judo is a self-defense discipline first, it also teaches individuals the skills they need to get along better with others.  This means that you’ll never have to worry about feeling intimidated or out of place with other Judokas at ACE.  Our Judo instructors provide a friendly atmosphere that will be reinforced by your classmates.  Even if you are not in the best of health, the other Judo participants at ACE will help you along your journey to meet your fitness goals.
